A large quantity of narcotic substances has been prevented from being transported into Azerbaijan by means of an unmanned aerial vehicle, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors continue successfully.
In the service area of the “Goytapa” border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service, the attempt to transport narcotic substances from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan by means of an unmanned aerial vehicle was prevented.
As a result of operational-military measures, a total of 33 kilograms and 345 grams of narcotic substances (29 kg 575 g of marijuana; 3 kg 125 g of methamphetamine; 565 g of opium; 80 g of methadone liquid) and 6,758 units of methadone M-40 tablets containing narcotic substances were detected and seized.
Operational-investigative measures regarding the incident are ongoing.
