British Parliament can express attitude to the position of Iranian Azerbaijanis

The British Parliament can express its attitude to the South Azerbaijan problem, Sweden Azerbaijan Youth Federation told the APA Eastern European bureau. The organization leadership held a number of meetings in Great Britain last week. The federation chairman Nargiz Nadai noted that during the meetings in the British Parliament negotiations were held with former European Affairs Minister, now the member of Legislative Body Constitutional Affairs Keith Vaz, Pole Kich from Foreign Committee Linda Gilroy from Defense Committee, Ann Maccechin from International Development Committee and parliamentarian Cleave Bets representing special parliament group on Iranian problem and local government committee. The British parliamentarians were informed about the discrimination policy carried out towards the non-Persians in Iran, 30 mn our countrymen having no right to get education in their mother tongue, prohibition on opening Azerbaijani schools and other discriminative facts. The parliamentarians confessed to have little information about this. They noted that they are interested in the continuation of cooperation. The parliamentarians stressed that the British Parliament should express its attitude to the respect of the Azerbaijanis human rights in Iran. Within their visit to London Sweden Azerbaijan Youth Federation leaders were the guests of Nicholas Johns in famous BBC TV channel. During the meeting Johns listened to the information about the position of Azerbaijanis in Iran and promised that the channel will focus its attention on the theme. /APA/
