Russian SC Secretary accuses the West of hindering Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization

"Normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia will be possible when the non-regional forces stop interfering in the conflict," Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev said at the meeting of the Secretaries of the CIS Security Councils, APA reports.

According to him, West’s steps aggravating the situation: “We also, are interested in the stabilization of the situation in the South Caucasus region and the creation of conditions for its development, strengthening mutual trust and cooperation. For this purpose, Russia is taking continuous steps towards the comprehensive normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations for the sake of conclusion of a peace treaty between these countries, delimitation of borders, and interests in the opening of transport communications.”

Patrushev also added that the actions of Western countries lead to the deterioration of the situation in the region and create conditions for contradictions to remain there.

The Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, has announced the conditions under which Azerbaijan-Armenia relations can be normalized in his remarks at the meeting of the Secretaries of the CIS Security Councils, APA reports citing TASS.

Patrushev noted that normalization between Baku and Yerevan is possible only if non-regional forces stop interfering in the situation.
