"Mines in territories liberated from occupation are a serious threat," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said at a press conference held after meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Annalena Baerbock today, APA reports.
Minister noted that civilians continue to fall on landmines.
"Time is needed to find out the full extent of the problem. However, according to preliminary estimates, over the past three years, the illegal regime in Garabagh, with the support of Armenia, has planted mines on 480 kilometers of territory with the philosophy of the "line of contact", and the depth of landmines even reaches 2 kilometers. This means that mines have been planted on 960 square kilometers area. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of landmines being planted there," Jeyhun Bayramov said.
