The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia (MFA) commented on the tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the official representative of the Russian MFA, Maria Zakharova, said at the weekly briefing today, APA reports.

She stated that the Russian side is seriously concerned about the incident.

“We strongly urge Baku and Yerevan to show restraint, take steps to reduce tension, and refrain from any actions that will cause to worsen the situation. All the arisen issues must only be solved by peace and political-diplomatic means. The developments once again confirm that Azerbaijan and Armenia must return to the implementation of the complex tripartite agreements concluded at a high level during the years 2020 and 2022. We are sure that territorial conflicts should be resolved within the framework of bilateral commissions on the delimitation of the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are ready to assist in this process as a consultant,” an MFA official stressed.

Note that in recent days, the situation at the conventional border of Azerbaijan and Armenia has been strained due to provocations by the Armenian side. A serviceman of the Azerbaijan State Border Service (SBS) was injured as a result of a sniper fire opened by Armenia.

Four servicemen of the Armenian army were killed and one was injured as a result of the "Revenge" operation carried out by the State Border Service in response.
