"The "good" advice of the Western friends of the current leadership of Armenia hinders the implementation of agreements on the opening of communications in the South Caucasus region," Maria Zakharova, Spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a briefing she held today, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

According to her, it's precisely them hindering the implemetation of the trilateral agreements and reconciliation of Yerevan and Baku. "Yerevan, acting on the advice of the United States and the European Union, faces the risk of being left out of the future regional configuration."

Zakharova noted that although Washington and Brussels repeatedly acted as "guarantors" in certain processes, they were never successful: "The Russian Federation supports the complete opening of communications in the South Caucasus under transparent, mutually beneficial conditions within the framework of the agreements of the Trilateral Working Group consisting of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan."

The Russian MFA Spokesperson stressed that the work of the Trilateral Working Group did not cause any complaints in Yerevan. She noted that the extraterritorial corridors were not discussed within the framework of the Working Group.

Zakharova added that the Armenian leadership missed the available opportunities to solve the problem due to the advice coming from the West.
