“The issue of Garabagh is done, this page was closed once and for all”, said Igor Korotchenko, the Editor-in-Chief of the Russian National Defense Journal and a renowned military expert in an interview with APA.

"The issue of Garabagh is done, Garabagh is “de facto” and “de jure” Azerbaijan. This page was closed once and for all. Garabagh is now an inseparable integral part of Azerbaijan. Attempts by some Western countries, which are not friendly to Azerbaijan, to take advantage of this situation and raise the topic of ethnic cleansing will not work. Such steps no longer work. First, because there is a factor of military victory. No one can dispute this anymore, no one... This is a fact. As for the political results of this process, Azerbaijan is behaving very responsibly. Official Baku announced that there is no danger for the peaceful Armenian population of Garabagh, the process of reintegration will be carried out and they will receive Azerbaijani passport. If for some reason, someone does not want to adopt Azerbaijani citizenship, then they should leave Garabagh. Today, we observe that the Armenian population of Garabagh is peacefully and safely passing through the Lachin border checkpoint and going to Armenia as scheduled. This is the choice of the Garabagh Armenians. They want to go to Armenia and safe conditions were created for this. In this sense, Azerbaijan demonstrates a very correct and responsible action model plan. The Khankandi electricity grid is already connected to the general electricity grid of Azerbaijan. At that time, they built this facility in Shusha just for this. The solution of other existing problems of the region is gradually being handed over to the state structures of Azerbaijan. This means that the region will gain a strong impetus for development. The standard of living here will be much higher than in the separatist enclave. It is clear that the standard of living of the Armenians of Garabagh will be better than that of the Armenians in Armenia. That’s why I believe that the Armenians who will stay at the region will have normal lives and works. Those who do not look at this variant are able to go to Armenia freely. The absolute condition of reintegration into Azerbaijani society is the complete surrender of illegal armed groups, which we are already observing. The discovered large warehouses of weapons, military equipment, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and radio-electronic warfare equipment show that this was a regular army. All these weapons are taken by Azerbaijan. It is clear that those who committed terrorist crimes against Azerbaijan, those who participated in the mass genocide against the population of Azerbaijan in the first and second Garabagh war will be brought to justice. Because those persons are international war criminals and there is no statute of limitations for international war crimes, they must be held accountable for their actions." said the Russian military expert.
