France's initiative to arm Armenia poses a threat to sustainable peace in the South Caucasus. It is very unfortunate that we observe the attempts of France to bring the traditional neo-colonial policy to our region, Azerbaijani MP Soltan Mammadov told APA.
Mr. Mammadov noted that after Azerbaijan secured its territorial integrity and sovereignty, the steps taken by some states, especially France, aim to keep the region in constant tension, thus gaining opportunities to influence regional processes.
The deputy said that after the Patriotic War, France repeatedly took biased steps against Azerbaijan. Provocative actions of high-ranking officials, statements contrary to diplomatic etiquette and international law caused serious damage to trust in relations.
