The British State Secretary for Europe, Leo Docherty, did not refer to the departure of the Armenian population from Garabagh as ethnic cleansing, APA reports.
In the British Parliament, there was a discussion on Azerbaijan's local anti-terrorism measures in the Karabakh region, and Leo Docherty was asked about the estimate of 50-1000 people remaining in Garabagh.
The Minister did not agree with the presence of signs of ethnic cleansing in this matter.
"No, I do not agree. However, I must say that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is calling on both sides to restore dialogue. The negotiations will be the basis for sustainable peace."
