Azerbaijani MFA welcomes speech of Baku Initiative Group member against French colonialism

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan welcomes the speech of Ella Tokoragi, a member of the board of the Baku Initiative Group from French Polynesia, strongly condemning France's colonial policy at the meeting of the Fourth Committee of the United Nations (The Special Political and Decolonization Committee), APA reports.

"We highly appreciate E. Tokoragi's gratitude to the Non-Aligned Movement for standing in solidarity with her country and supporting its struggle to liberate French Polynesia from colonialism and support her calls to oppose colonialism, which is a crime against humanity, to hold the French government accountable for its injustice and damage to the people of French Polynesia, and to put an end to colonialism or neo-colonialism at the center of international relations.

As one of the countries that still continues neo-colonialism and does not attach significance to human rights within the colonial policy, it is hypocritical for France to now falsely portray itself as a defender of human rights and international law.

France's continuing to live with baseless claims, neocolonialist ambitions, and colonial dreams is doomed to failure.

Today, France trying to implement the neo-colonialist heinous experience in the South Caucasus region with its geopolitical competition and colonial policy based on "Orientalism" by supporting Armenian separatism in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan instead of taking responsibility for its colonial past, bloody colonial crimes and acts of genocide, and learning from history is equally dangerous and unacceptable," the Ministry noted.
