During the working visit to the Republic of Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, MFA Azerbaijan wrote on X, APA reports, MFA Azerbaijan told APA.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized that the historical, cultural, and religious ties between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan are the basis of friendly relations between the two countries.
The ministers emphasized the significant potential for further deepening the already increasing partnership relations in recent years at the meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan intends to raise the relations with Central Asian countries, which are connected by common historical, religious and cultural threads, to a qualitatively new stage, and noted the importance of continuing the intensity observed in the dynamics of mutual visits between the two countries.
At the meeting, the parties noted the importance of the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan in terms of developing economic relations between the two countries.
In addition, information was provided on the preparation process for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the opportunities for cooperation were evaluated in this framework.
At the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
