Azerbaijani Deputy PM meets Alexei Overchuk, discusses trade and economic cooperation

On October 5, during the visit of a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev to the Russian Federation, a meeting was held with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation  Alexei Overchuk, the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.

The current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia trade and economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting.

The importance of regular high-level contacts in terms of developing bilateral relations and expanding practical cooperation was noted.

The sides considered issues related to the development of cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres. Prospects for cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture, transport and logistics were discussed.

The meeting reviewed the implementation status of agreements reached at a high level, as well as decisions adopted at the 24th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, held in Zangilan on April 16, 2026.

Measures to increase mutual trade turnover and expand trade and economic ties were discussed. The importance of creating favorable conditions for the activities of business entities of both countries was emphasized.

Issues related to the development of transport links and increasing the efficiency of freight transportation between the two countries were also discussed. Opportunities for broader use of the potential of the North-South International Transport Corridor were considered.

In addition, attention was paid to the operation of border checkpoints and improving procedures for the passage of cargo and vehicles through these checkpoints.

The sides exchanged views on prospects for implementing mutually beneficial projects of practical interest to Azerbaijan and Russia. The importance of continuing work toward the further development of economic cooperation was emphasized.

The importance of regular contacts between the relevant state bodies of the two countries for the timely consideration and resolution of practical issues in all areas of bilateral cooperation was noted.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to continue joint work in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting was held in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere.

During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev also met with Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of bilateral relations were discussed, particularly cooperation in economic and trade areas, including industry, energy, transport and logistics.

Shahin Mustafayev also met with Emin Agalarov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan-Russia Business Council, and Alexey Repik, Chairman of the Russia-Azerbaijan Business Council.

The meeting included an exchange of views on the development of Azerbaijan-Russia economic and trade relations, as well as investment ties.
