Azerbaijan proposed the creation of a trilateral platform in the South Caucasus, Chairman of the Board of the Center for International Relations Analysis Farid Shafiyev told journalists on the sidelines of a round table titled "Georgia's mediation role in regional relations" held in Baku, APA reports.

"Today, we held discussions with political scientist Gela Vasadze from Georgia. The key topics of discussion were Georgia's role in the region, and Azerbaijan-Georgia bilateral relations. At the same time, there are a number of proposals for the creation of a trilateral platform. Mr. President made a proposal in this regard, and this initiative was supported by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on behalf of Georgia. There is no response to this proposal from the Armenian side. Today we also held discussions on this issue at the level of experts. During the exchange of views, the possible role of Georgia in the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia was also discussed. Georgia is a place where representatives from Armenia and Azerbaijan meet and hold discussions. The newly emerged geopolitical situation was also taken into account during the discussions," he said.
