The United Nations General Assembly adopted a major resolution on the Gaza crisis, calling for an “immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities”, APA reports.

The resolution breaks the deadlock at the UN over a response to the Israel-Palestine crisis which erupted on 7 October, where Member States on the Security Council have failed to reach agreement on four draft resolutions.

Following the surprise attack of Hamas on October 7, heavy clashes are taking place in the region. Both Israel and Hamas mutually use various heavy weapons. The situation in the Gaza Strip has divided the world into two parts. Some countries supported Israel and some countries supported Palestine. In the course of the developments, unjustified accusations were also made against Azerbaijan. Some circles make groundless accusations that Azerbaijan does not show Islamic solidarity and does not support Palestine in the fight against Israel.

However, official Baku has repeatedly demonstrated that these accusations are groundless. For many years, Azerbaijan has declared at various levels that it supports the two-state principle as a solution to this conflict, in other words, it supports the recognition of the State of Palestine. Here the talk is not only about Islamic solidarity, but also about international law. Azerbaijan also accepts the supremacy of international law and follows the two-state principle. Because the UN also has a resolution on the acceptance of the two-state principle regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

During the discussion of the resolution of the UN General Assembly on October 27, Azerbaijan once again demonstrated its commitment to Islamic solidarity, clearly showed that it is with the Islamic world, and gave a worthy response to those who carried out a smear campaign against the country.

Azerbaijan expressed the same position regarding the recent events in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone at the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held at the ministerial level on October 18.

During his speech at the meeting, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan has always remained loyal to Islamic solidarity.
