A new appointment has been made at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), the CBA said, APA-Economics reports.
Azer Alasgarov has been appointed Director General of the Central Bank effective October 1, 2026.
Azer Alasgarov began his career in 1997 at the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Department and worked in various years as a leading economist, chief economist, head of division and deputy director of the department.
From June 2009 to October 2026, he served as Director of the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Department.
In 2012, Azer Alasgarov was awarded the “Taraggi” Medal for his services to the development of banking in Azerbaijan. He is the author of more than 90 analytical articles on socio-economic issues.
