"Discussions are underway between Azerbaijan and Türkiye regarding the creation of a joint working group on trade facilitation to increase the volume of bilateral trade, reduce the foreign trade costs, and speed up the customs operations," said Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Alakbarov during his speech at a conference on "Economic reforms and modern challenges for improving the business environment", APA-Economics reports.

He stated that the Preferential Trade Agreement was signed in 2020 and an additional protocol was signed in 2023 to expand the list of products covered by the Agreement.

"These steps should create conditions to increase the volume of trade turnover with other member states of the OTS in the future of Azerbaijan, thus increasing economic activity," the deputy minister added.

Sahib Alakbarov noted that the amount of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the member countries of the Organization of the Turkic States in 2023 was equal to USD 9 billion.
