Amount of aid sent from Azerbaijan to Türkiye and Ukraine revealed

The amount of aid sent by Azerbaijan to Ukraine for humanitarian, as well as restoration and reconstruction purposes was more than AZN 57 mln. (approximately USD 34 mln.), which half of it was sent last year, says the report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers in 2023, APA reports.

It was noted in the report that from the first days of the devastating earthquake in Türkiye, Azerbaijan demonstrated its brotherly support and immediately sent search and rescue teams, medical volunteers, as well as various humanitarian aid.

Azerbaijan sent 940 rescuers, medical personnel, and volunteer teams to the region, as well as more than 5,300 tons of humanitarian cargo. According to the number of rescuers sent to Türkiye, Azerbaijan was the first among the countries of the world. At the same time, more than 45 million US dollars were transferred from Azerbaijan to the bank accounts of AFAD and other humanitarian organizations working in the earthquake region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the International Conference of People in Türkiye and Syria held in Brussels on March 20, and the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, for the construction of residential buildings, purpose-built facilities and educational institutions to contribute to the reconstruction and construction works in the earthquake region of Türkiye.

Mr President announced that Azerbaijan will provide support for USD 100 mln. In this framework, about USD 60 mln (100 million manats) have been allocated by Azerbaijan in 2023 for carrying out restoration and reconstruction works.
