About $7 bln of foreign direct investment was invested in Azerbaijan last year - CBA

"In 2023, in total, foreign direct investment in the amount of 6.7 billion USD was invested in the oil-gas and non-oil-gas sectors of Azerbaijan. Capital repatriation amounted to 6,9 billion dollars," Director of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Samir Nasirov said at a briefing, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, in terms of foreign direct investments coming to the country, the United Kingdom ranked first (1.9 billion USD), Türkiye ranked second (1,3 billion USD), Cyprus ranked third (792 million USD), Russia ranked fourth (617 million USD) dollars), and the fifth was Iran (396 million USD).

"The total foreign direct investments from Azerbaijan to abroad amounted to 3,1 billion USD. The most foreign direct investment was to Türkiye (1,8 billion USD), the U.S. (311 million USD) and Great Britain (157 million USD)", the Central Bank official noted.
