The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has proposed a ban on instruction in Russian in private schools, APA reports.
The relevant draft law has been posted on the official website of the parliament.
The initiators of the draft law are a group of MPs of the Rada. The document envisages amendments to the law on general secondary education and includes the abolition of the right of private schools to independently choose the language of instruction.
Currently, the legislation in force allows private schools to determine the language of instruction themselves. The new draft law, however, would take this right away from them.
Note that in some schools in the city of Odessa, fines are already being imposed on students who speak Russian.
