A dry cargo ship carrying Azerbaijani seafarers came under attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near the Port of Odesa, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Seafarers Support Public Union, Ilham Nasirov, said in a statement on Facebook, APA reports.
According to the statement, three UAVs attacked the ATA-2 dry cargo vessel, owned by Albatros Corporation, near the Port of Odesa this morning.
The vessel reportedly sustained serious damage and is currently heading toward the Romanian coast.
The crew consists of 13 members, including 12 Azerbaijani citizens and one Turkish citizen.
According to preliminary information, no one was killed or injured in the incident.
Note that on July 14, the Atlas Bey civilian merchant vessel carrying Azerbaijani citizens also came under a drone attack near the coast of Odesa, Ukraine.
The vessel's captain, Samad Nasrullayev, was killed in the attack, while 10 Azerbaijani citizens were able to reach the shore safely.
Samad Nasrullayev's body was brought to Lankaran, where he was laid to rest.
