In the future, the annual transmission capacity of the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) can be increased to 34 billion cubic meters, which is almost 10 billion cubic meters more than the current transmission capacity of the pipeline, the information in this regard was presented by SOCAR at the Caspian Oil&Gas oil and gas exhibition within the framework of the Baku Energy Week, APA-Economics reports.

According to the information, currently, the pipeline's annual transmission capacity is 24.04 billion cubic meters.

Note that the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) is a pipeline with a length of 691 km (443 km in the territory of Azerbaijan, 248 km in the territory of Georgia) and a diameter of 42 inches. The pipeline was built to transport gas produced from the Shahdeniz field to the Georgia- Türkiye border. The first gas was delivered to the Turkish border in 2006. In order to have a minimal impact on the environment, SCP was built along the same corridor as the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan pipeline. The initial transport capacity of the pipeline was 7.4 billion cubic meters per year.
