The observation mission of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) held a press conference on the results of the presidential election held in Azerbaijan on April 11.

BSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev said that the election was held democratically and transparently.

He said that according to the exit-poll results, President Ilham Aliyev has been re-elected with 83 percent of the vote. "This is a vote for our future and development,” Hajiyev added.

BSEC Vice-President Peter Kanev said that he first observed an election in Azerbaijan 12 years ago.

"I can say with confidence that so far a lot of work has been done and changes have been made in the electoral system in Azerbaijan. All the necessary work has been done to conduct transparent elections," he added.

Greek MP Symeon Kedikoglou noted that there is a good relationship between the two countries and added that there is great progress in Azerbaijan.

BSEC Vice President Otar Danelia emphasized that he did not see any violations in the process.

"I would like to say that the results of today's election is a guarantee of Azerbaijan's development," he stressed.
