“I am pleased to welcome the participants of Baku Energy Week once again. Meanwhile, I would like to express my high appreciation for role that Azerbaijan has played in the global energy landspace,” this was reflected in the letter of President of United States Joe Biden that was read at opening of the 29th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition - Caspian Oil & Gas and the 12th Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition - Caspian Power as part of the Baku Energy Week, APA reports.
The U.S. President noted that this year’s events carry particular signifigances since Baku prepares to host pivotal COP29 in November.
“COP29 presents unique opportunity for Azerbaijan to advance key global initiatives like limiting methane emissions and oil and gas sector and advance in clean energy transition.
Azerbaija remains a significant pillar of the global energy security, particularly to Europe. Caspian gas is found to have a signicifant role in a number of countries, helping European nations to diversify energy sources.
As Azerbaijan looks to the next chapter and its own energy story, I’m encouraged by the increased focus and commitment to the clean energy transition.
The important green energy potential of the Caspian Sea has a wide export potential along with oil and gas,” – Biden said.
