Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay a visit to Ashgabat on Jan. 27-28, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Thursday.
A cooperation plan for 2016 between the foreign ministries of the two countries will be signed during Lavrov’s visit, said Zakharova.
“Moscow attaches great importance to relations with Ashgabat,” the spokesperson said, noting that bilateral relations, issues of cooperation within the UN, CIS and five Caspian littoral countries will be discussed in Ashgabat.
The developments in the Middle East and the situation in Central Asia will also be discussed, she added.
Zakharova said Lavrov is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of a new building of the Russian embassy in Ashgabat.
