Despite Armenia's membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), official Washington and Brussels want to implement their own format for the security model, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Anatoly Sidorov says at briefing held today, APA reports.

Sidorov stressed that the situation the area of responsibility of the CSTO remains complex and tense.

According to him, the main source of security threats is a destructive activity of part of the Western elite to srupt the situation around the CSTO and within individual states that are members of the organization.

Sidorov also added that the organization's potential for conflict in the Caucasus region continues to grow, which is primarily caused by the unresolved territorial issues between a number of states: "Russia plays a stabilizing role in the region. At the same time, Washington and Brussels are trying to apply their format for the security model and neutralize the efforts of the CSTO in this direction, despite the fact that Armenia is a member of the CSTO”.
