Car traffic restored on Crimea bridge

The head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, said that the movement of vehicles on the Crimean bridge was open. For the time being, only light vehicles will be allowed through after a thorough screening, APA reports.

Aksyonov asked truck drivers to plan a route through the Kerch ferry crossing.

“In two hours, the Kerch-2 ferry starts to sail across the strait,” Aksyonov wrote in his Telegram channel (the post was published at 16.08 local time, which coincides with Moscow).

An hour ago, the head of Crimea announced the launch of railway traffic on the bridge before the end of the day. In the same post, he stated that “thanks to the joint work of the federal and regional authorities, traffic on the undamaged automobile part of the Crimean bridge will be resumed in the near future.”

On the morning of October 8 on the Crimean bridge from the side of the Taman Peninsula exploded freight car. According to preliminary data, three people died. After the explosion on the railway part of the bridge, seven fuel tanks ignited.
