Armenian PM: Some forces are trying to turn church against state, we will not allow this

Certain forces are attempting to use the Armenian Church as a tool against the state, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech at the conclusion of a mass procession held under the slogan of renewing the Armenian Church, APA reports, citing Armenian media.

The prime minister stated that some forces are trying to turn the Armenian Church into a foothold for actions directed against the Republic of Armenia.

“They want to use our native Church, our sacred value, against our state. As the Prime Minister of Armenia, I declare that we will not allow this,” Pashinyan emphasized.

Pashinyan rejected accusations that the government is acting against the Church, saying: “The government has not acted, is not acting, and can never act against the Church, because the government is a follower of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church.”
