Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye has commented on the helicopter crash of the President of Iran and a group of officials and the subsequent search works to TRT Haber, APA reports.

The minister noted that they followed the whole process from the moment the incident happened.

“Iran is a country within our area of responsibility for sea and air search and rescue. That's why we monitor signals of all air and sea vehicles. First of all, we watched to see if the whether helicopter had signaled or not, following that we immediately contacted the Iranian side. It turned out that the signal system on the helicopter was either turned off or was not there at all,” – he said.

The minister pointed out that it is too early to talk about the cause of the accident and considering the foggy weather, it still looks like an accident.

Note that yesterday, a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed. In addition to the president, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, governor of East-Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati, imam of Tabriz Muhammad Ali Hashem and other officials accompanying him were in the helicopter.

As a result of the crash, all the mentioned individuals died.

A 5-day mourning has been announced in Iran due to the incident.
