The son of Israeli Ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter, Neria, was seriously injured in an attack on an Israeli army checkpoint in the West Bank, APA reports citing The Jerusalem Post.
According to her, Neria Leiter, an American citizen, is currently serving in the Israeli army's reserves. The incident occurred at a checkpoint near the Israeli city of Modi'in. A car rammed the checkpoint, seriously injuring Leiter, who was at the checkpoint. He was taken to a Jerusalem hospital in serious condition, where he is currently under anesthesia.
The attacker who drove the car that hit the checkpoint was killed at the scene. According to The Times of Israel, the assailant was 29-year-old Mahmoud Mohammed Sliman from the neighboring Palestinian village of Beit Ur al-Tahta.
