Thirty-six suspects have been arrested in Türkiye as part of an investigation into the death of former Great Unity Party (BBP) chairman Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu, APA reports.
According to the Ankara Prosecutor’s Office, arrest warrants were issued for suspects as part of the investigation into the helicopter crash that killed Yazıcıoğlu and those accompanying him.
The suspects are accused of involvement, within the scope of alleged FETÖ activities, in “intentional and premeditated murder” and of committing various offenses aimed at preventing the truth from being uncovered.
Searches were conducted at 45 addresses across 16 provinces, including Ankara. A total of 38 suspects were detained, with 33 initially taken into custody and another five detained later.
Of the 38 suspects, prosecutors sought the arrest of 36 and judicial control measures for two others. A court ordered all 36 suspects to be arrested, while the remaining two were placed under judicial control.
The Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation is continuing on multiple fronts.
