The White House released a statement on Monday, stating that access to the press pool has "always been a privilege," not "a right", APA reports.
"The First Amendment protects their right to publish; it does not entitle them to a hard pass, a briefing room seat, or a place in the press pool," the White House stressed, adding that the decision to remove CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House is "nothing new," and that the rule was never "every outlet gets in," but that "our side stays in."
The Media Research Center said 92% of mainstream media coverage of President Donald Trump during the first 100 days of his second term has been negative, compared with nearly 60% positive coverage of former President Joe Biden during the same period. "That's more like a political operation with cameras than a free press holding power to account," the White House stressed.
