A United States Marine rapid response force is currently in the Red Sea and moving toward the eastern Mediterranean, CNN said on Sunday, APA reports.
The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit was traveling aboard the USS Bataan amphibious assault aircraft toward the Suez Canal "late last week," according to unnamed officials.
The unit is expected to reach the eastern Mediterranean "soon," according to the report, where it could help US citizens evacuate from Israel and Lebanon. The US Department of Defense has so far not issued a statement on the matter.
