US President Donald Trump announced that the White House press secretary's duties will be temporarily filled by the heads of departments, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, APA reports.
"We have a lot of people who want this. Many want this, many have applied for this," Trump said during a meeting with reporters before departing Ireland for the United States. Asked about the list of possible candidates, the US president noted that he "probably compiled it over the weekend."
"We're going to do this for a while. We're going to use secretaries, like Marco [Rubio]," Trump said, recalling Vice President J.D. Vance's briefing for reporters at the White House in early September. "We're going to use Scott, we're going to use Howard, we're going to use a lot of secretaries," Trump continued, adding that Education Secretary Linda McMahon could also serve as White House press secretary. "Ultimately, I'll figure it out. Marco will be next," he said.
