According to her, ICRC will work with the government agencies and corresponding organizations.

Ilaha Huseynova said that the mine action program was implemented by the ICRC, when it started functioning in Azerbaijan. But there is a program for supporting landmine victims and families that have lost householders as a result of mine blasts. Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society is implementing this program with the support of ICRC.

“The representatives of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society will visit the family of Sabir Karimov, who died on April 2, and the family of Adil Valiyev, who died on April 15, and carry out assessment. If the person, who died in the mine blast, was the only supporter of the family, his family will receive lump-sum allowance,” she said.

Gazakh resident Sabir Karimov died after hitting a mine in the forest on the border with Armenia on April 2. His body was taken from the area and buried after a few days.

Resident of Khanliglar village, 23-year-old Adil Habil Valiyev hit a landmine in the forest in the neutral zone on April 15. His body could not be taken from the area, because Armenians started firing. The ceasefire was declared after the negations conducted by ICRC with Armenian side. Following this, Adil Valiyev’s body has been taken from the area.”
