Russian coach: Our country strives to reach Azerbaijan in shooting sportÂ

Coach of Russian women’s skeet team Anatoly Yegrish’s interview to APA:

- What are your first impressions about the ISSF World Cup competitions being held in Gabala?

- Everything is wonderful. It's a pleasure to compete at such a high-level sport complex. The people of this place and their attitude towards the guests make us feel good. The nature is another matter of talk.

- Perhaps, you have already been familiarized with Gabala…

- We are here to succeed. Therefore, we have had training in your country prior to the competitions. We held training in Gabala Shooting Center to prepare well to the competitions. We have gone sightseeing during this period. We even went to the lake. We visited other places, including Nohurgol. It's hard to put into words the beauty we have seen. But we have one more wish – to visit “Seven Beauties” waterfall. We will go there together with our team members.

- Have you ever been to Azerbaijan?

- Not recently. I’ve been here neither during last year's World Cup, nor in the European Games. I visited Baku 20 years ago. Azerbaijan changed so much during this period. Two high-level shooting complexes were built in Baku and Gabala. This sport is developing. Unfortunately, the case is different in our country.

- Can you compare Gabala shooting complex with Russian complexes?

- Though our country is big, we have only two complexes that can be compared with Gabala shooting complex. One of them is around Moscow and one in Kazan. The latter was built for the Universiade. However, they lag behind in comparison to your complexes. Russia is trying to overtake Azerbaijan in this field.

- What do you think, is it possible to hold other major events in these sports complexes?

- Gabala can host any competition, except World Cup. The complex meets all modern requirements. However, there are some requirements in the world championship. There should be 80 lines. There are only 60 lines here. After solving this matter, shooting world cup can be held here.
