The Committee’s press service told APA that First Deputy of Sumgayit City Executive Power, Chairman of the Commission for Religious Affairs Rovshen Sadikhov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee Gunduz Ismayilov and representatives of the religious communities of Absheron and Khizi regions and Sumgayit city attended the meeting.
Making speech, Gurbanli said that restoration of our independence accelerated the process of our people’s backing to the national-spiritual values.
Gurbanli underlined increased state support for national and spiritual values in recent years and said that the number of places of worship and pilgrimage, renovated and restored on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, is growing day by day: “The inter-religious relations is at high level in our country today. Everyone has freedom of religion. Our main priority is correct promotion of Islamic religion and culture, as Islam is an integral part of our national and moral values and majority of our country's population is practicing Islam.”
Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations said that recently, the non-traditional movements try to spread their ideology using religion. We witness it in various countries. Though, Azerbaijan doesn’t have serious problems in this field, we can not say that we are fully insured from it. Proper promotion of higher principles of the religion is the main task of the religious communities.”
