Baku. Mubariz Aslanov - APA. Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Work with Religious Organizations has registered the newly-established religious community at Mushfigabad mosque, Garadagh district, Baku. New imam has been appointed to the mosque by the Caucasian Muslims Board, press service of the committee said in response to APA’s questionnaire.
The committee said registered in 19998 by the Justice Ministry, the old community of the mosque, which was built with the financial support of a foreign humanitarian organization, dissolved itself, and the State Committee removed it from the state registration. After that, an initiative group was set up at the mosque to form a new religious community, the constituent meeting of the community was held and the relevant documents for the state registration were submitted to the State Committee. Taking into account the official application of the religious community and presentation of the Caucasian Muslims Board, the community was registered at the State Committee on Work with Religious Organization. Taking into account the formation of the new community and application of the community, Caucasian Muslims Board appointed official imam to the mosque in accordance with the Law on Religious Freedom.
At the meeting of the new community on March 1, head of the religious community Irshad Suleymanov and official imam Shaig Aliyev were introduced to the believers.
It was noted that the activity of the mosque will be regulated in line with the registered Regulations of the religious community. According to the Regulations, irrespective of faith, all believers will be able to pray at the mosque, Jummah (Friday) namaz and Jummah khutbahs will be performed under the leadership of the official imam.
The committee said taking advantage of the old community’s inactivity, the representatives of Wahhabi sect illegally took control of Mushfigabad mosque for a long time.
The old community of the mosque and former imam Mubariz Gachayev are accused of sending Azerbaijanis to fight in Syria.
