262 villages destroyed in Azerbaijan’s Guba region as result of 1918 genocide act committed by Armenians

Director of the institute Ayten Mustafayeva said the facts about the genocide committed by the Armenian military groups against the Azerbaijanis in 1918-1920 are still in the archives. She said the Special Investigation Commission was established on July 15, 1918 in Ganja. The commission collected the documents about the genocide acts committed by the Armenians in Baku on March, 1918, Shamakhi on March-May, 1918, Guba, Western Azerbaijan and other regions of Azerbaijan on May-June, 1918.

Professor Anar Isandarov said more than 11 000 people were killed during the March genocide in Baku and it caused 400 million manats of damage on the local population. 8000 Azerbajanis were massacred in Shamakhi town and more than 8000 in Shamakhi district. Total damage amounted above one billion rubles. 16 000 people, including more than 3000 Jews were killed during the genocide act in Guba region of Azerbaijan. 262 villages of Guba were destroyed and 36 villages were obliterated for long.
