Human Rights Commissioner makes statement on day of Azerbaijanis’ genocide

The statement says that genocide and deportation policy of Armenian nationalists and their supporters against the Azerbaijanis went down in history of Azerbaijani people as grievous pages. The most terrible bloody tragedy committed by Armenians is the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis on March 31, 1918. On March 30, Armenian-Bolshevik units began firing at Baku from ships. Following this, armed dashnaks burst into the houses of Azerbaijanis and atrociously killed people. There were mass slaughters on March 31 and April 1-2. Armed Armenian soldiers atrociously killed civilians. Such bloody tragedies were committed in Baku, Ganja, Guba, Khachmaz, Shamakhy, Lankaran, Mughan and other regions. Hundreds of Azerbaijani cities, villages, over 150 villages of Karabakh, where Azerbaijanis lived, were destroyed, terrible slaughters were committed in Shusha.
“About 700,000 Azerbaijanis, including 30,000 people in Baku and surrounding villages were killed. 115 villages of Zengezur, 211 villages of Irevan were destroyed, people were tortured. Facts proving manslaughters by Armenians in Guba in 1918 have been revealed. Lots of human bones found there are the facts proving Armenian vandalism.”
92 years have passed since March 1918 genocide, but it is impossible to forget these horrors committed by the Armenian nationalists, said the statement. “The world community aiming to combat international terrorism, at last, must give objective political assessment to the violence against the Azerbaijani people continued today as well and the criminals must be punished. I am calling on the authoritative international organizations to support fair position of Azerbaijan and believing that the justice will be restored, the authoritative international organizations will impose sanctions against Armenia which made a genocide as a part of its national policy, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and rights of refugees and internally displaced persons will be restored and prisoners and hostages will be released. I hope that you will make enormous efforts and mobilize all your opportunities to establish peace and welfare in the Azerbaijani lands”.

The statement was sent to the UN Secretary General, Under Secretary General, Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflicts, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, OSCE, Council of Europe, International and European Institute of Human Rights Commissioners, Asian Association of Human Rights Commissioners, International Peace Bureau, Universal Peace Federation, human rights commissioners of different countries, foreign embassies in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations.
