The Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) is an organization that unites thousands of people who were expelled from Armenia in stages over the past 200 years, as well as their descendants, said Aziz Alakbarov, Chairman of the Board of the Community, during his speech at the 3rd International Conference on “Cultural heritage and the right to return: The restoration of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis displaced from Armenia as a path to justice, reconciliation, and peace,” APA reports.

He stated that the purpose of the organization is to ensure the return of more than 300,000 refugees who were displaced from their ancestral lands due to the Armenia–Azerbaijan war.

“In our activities, we rely on international law. Unfortunately, Armenia does not want to bear international responsibility for all these illegal actions. What they have done is a crime against humanity. For this reason, we have repeatedly appealed to UNESCO,” Alakbarov added.
