The Presidium of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has made a decision to announce competitions for the “Nizami Ganjavi Gold Medal” and nominal awards of ANAS for 2018.
Addressing a presidium meeting on Wednesday, President of ANAS Akif Alizade said that Azerbaijani citizens and foreigners the “Nizami Ganjavi Gold Medal” is awarded annually to Azerbaijani citizens and foreigners for works, discoveries and inventions, as well as for special services in the field of fundamental and applied science.
He went on to say that ANAS awards named after Nasiraddin Tusi, Hasan bey Zardabi, Academician Uzeir Hajibeyov, Academician Mirasadulla Mirgasimov, Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, Academician Musa Aliyev and Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov are awarded in order to encourage the scientists, who contributed to the development of science and gained vital achievements, to conduct studies of an even higher level.
Candidates for the awards can be nominated by full and corresponding members of ANAS, scientific councils of scientific research institutions of ANAS, higher educational institutions, scientific societies, scientific and technical councils functioning under ministries and state committees.
Presentations of candidates along with relevant documents should be submitted to the Expert Commission by March 1, 2018.
