"The issue of Ramiz Mehdiyev’s full membership at the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) is under consideration," the President of AMEA, academician Isa Habibbayli, told journalists, APA reports.
"We also regret the recent developments. The matter will be discussed after the court decision," Isa Habibbayli said.
Note that the Sabail District Court of Baku city issued a decision in the criminal case concerning Ramiz Anvar oglu Mehdiyev.
According to the decision, the court granted the petition regarding Ramiz Mehdiyev, who has been charged with especially serious criminal offenses, and imposed a preventive measure of house arrest for a period of 4 months.
He is charged under Articles 278.1 (actions aimed at seizing state power), 274 (treason), and 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained by criminal means) of the Criminal Code.
Recall that R. Mehdiyev served as the Head of the Presidential Administration from 1995 to 2019.
