The Cabinet of Ministers has approved dress requirements for educators working in state general education institutions, APA reports.
The document, adopted to implement the relevant Presidential Decree on amendments to the Law “On General Education,” is aimed at fostering a professional dress culture in state general education institutions and ensuring a unified approach.
According to the document, a teacher's clothing should not hinder their dynamic work or distract students, while at the same time helping students develop a proper attitude toward clothing, style and choosing appropriate attire for different situations.
Educators' clothing and clothing elements must comply with the secular principle of general education and be clean, neat, simple, professional and appropriate for the season. Clothing and clothing elements that are inappropriate for the nature of pedagogical activities and the age characteristics of students, as well as those that fall outside the dress style established by these requirements, are not permitted.
Educators must comply with these requirements at school while performing their job duties, as well as at official and ceremonial events where they represent the school. At events related to the history, culture and national and moral values of the Azerbaijani people, national clothing or elements of national clothing may be worn by decision of the Pedagogical Council.
It should be particularly emphasized regarding the decision that it does not concern a uniform, but rather rules on clothing — a dress code. According to experts, school teachers dressing in accordance with professional requirements and taking the dress code into account has positive effects from organizational, pedagogical and managerial perspectives. This is because a professional style not only emphasizes that a teacher represents certain professional standards, but also helps maintain the working environment necessary during the educational process.
Education experts have also noted in various discussions that if students wear school uniforms, dress code requirements for teachers should also be regarded as part of the school's overall corporate culture. This will also have a positive impact on the school's public reputation.
