Azerbaijan reveals number of former IDPs to be resettled in liberated territories

State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced how many people will be resettled within the framework of the Great Return program to the liberated territories by the end of 2024, APA reports.

It was noted that large-scale restoration and construction works are being carried out in the liberated territories, first of all, modern infrastructure is being formed, and necessary conditions for sustainable settlement and economic reintegration are being created. The relocation of families to the houses built in stages is carried out according to the plans drawn up under the I State Program on the Great Return to the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the schedule of restoration and construction. To date, the resettlement of IDPs has been carried out in 5 settlements - Agalı village of Zangilan district, Talish village of Tartar district, Lachin city and Zabukh village of the district, Fuzuli city.

By the end of this year, it is planned to return 20 thousand ex-displaced persons to 5 cities and 15 villages, including at least 20 settlements. At present, the master plan of more than a hundred cities and villages has been approved, and construction works are underway in many cities and villages.
