So far, Azerbaijan has granted permission to around 500 Russians, including business representatives, to cross the Iranian border, APA reports, citing RIA Novosti.
A source told the agency that the permits are being issued based on requests from the Russian side.
“Approximately 500 permits have been issued to cross the border. Representatives of Russian organizations and companies operating in Iran have already crossed the border,” the source said.
The source added that “Azerbaijan is providing maximum support to the Russian Federation in the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran.”
It is worth noting that the Russian Embassy in Tehran announced on its Telegram channel that Russian nationals can leave Iran through two border crossing points – via Azerbaijan and Armenia.
