We jointly attended the funerals of our martyrs who represented various religious confessions, participating together without distinguishing between Muslims, Catholics, Orthodox Christians and Jews, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims’ Office (CMO) Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade said at an event held at the CMB dedicated to the 6th anniversary of Remembrance Day, APA reports.
Sheikhulislam said that during the days of the Patriotic War and after the Victory, the heads of religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan met repeatedly and worked together to convey to the international community information about the sacred goals of the Karabakh war and the truths of the struggle for justice.
“We carried out intensive work with all religious centers and international organizations with which we cooperate in order to expose the Armenian side’s war crimes, the inhumane acts committed against our people, the disinformation they spread and their malicious accusations. We disseminated information about crimes against civilians in Azerbaijan throughout the world, and all confessions jointly appealed to the international community, international organizations and religious centers and issued joint statements,” the CMO Chairman noted.
Allahshukur Pashazade emphasized that religious confessions fulfill their duties to the state and the people through their religious and spiritual services.
“During those days, as always, we stood together with all religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan and jointly supported our struggle for justice shoulder to shoulder,” he said.
The CMO Chairman noted that President Ilham Aliyev, during his historic speech at Jidir Duzu in Shusha, particularly highlighted the contribution of Azerbaijan’s religious figures and believers to the Karabakh Victory.
“Today, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Jews and Albanian-Udis in Azerbaijan, together with Muslims, surround the families of the martyrs of the Motherland with attention and care and honor their memory with dignity. This unity of ours is a valuable asset of the Azerbaijani people,” Sheikhulislam said.
According to him, the multicultural traditions that are an integral part of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s ideology of Azerbaijanism ensure that people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds in Azerbaijan live in spiritual harmony as members of one family.
