Education is the number one priority, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said during his speech at an event on the theme “Rebuilding Trust in a Fragmented World: The South Caucasus as a Pillar of Global Connectivity and Investment Stability,” held as part of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum in Baku, APA reports.
The President said that it is impossible to achieve the set goals without qualified personnel.
“There are several factors here. One of them is capacity building, and a great deal of work is currently being done in the field of education. The Cybersecurity Center, which has been operating for some time, is the first important step in this direction,” the head of state emphasized.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan has practical advantages, such as access to affordable energy and a favorable geographical location.
“We are located between Europe and Asia. We have fiber-optic lines extending northward and westward. By the end of this year, we will complete the project connecting Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan across the seabed of the Caspian Sea,” the President said.
The head of state said Azerbaijan wants to move in line with the overall development trends of the global economy.
“For this purpose, we must actively work with partners such as hyperscale technology companies, the organization you represent and the organization I met with yesterday, so that they consider Azerbaijan in terms of investment opportunities,” President Ilham Aliyev noted.
The President said that security, a favorable investment climate, predictable tax rules and an investor-friendly economy are the main prerequisites for this.
“If these are attractive enough, we will succeed. Otherwise, we will ask our partners to tell us what more needs to be done for them to come to Azerbaijan as long-term investors,” the head of state emphasized.
