Bill on press presented to Azerbaijani President

The appeal appraised the improvements such as establishment of legal basis of press, measures taken in the solution of material-technical problems underlining that there are still remaining problems to be addressed.
Our national media has such problems that their solution is impossible without the support of the government and first of all it is due to the material condition of media outlets.
â€œThe assistance to the solution of it can speed the independence of the media and regulation of some momentums dissatisfying public opinionâ€, he said.
The appeal also reminds that the issue was broadly discussed in the 4th Congress of Azerbaijani journalists, and it was decided in the Supreme Assemblyâ€™s resolution to present a document on development of press to the head of state.
â€œAfter the mentioned Congress, prominent journalists, economists, lawyers were involved to drawing up of the draft law. The forms of supports to the media, regulation of tariffs and taxes, financing from the budget, technical and organizing support, requirements of transparent election and general control are reflected in the documentâ€, the appeal reads. /APA/
