Annual damage due to cyber attacks is USD 190,000 per second in Azerbaijan - State Service Deputy Head

"In 2022 in Azerbaijan, the yearly damage dealt due to the cyber attacks on a global scale is estimated at USD 6 trillion, USD 500 billion per month, USD 115.4 billion per week, USD 684.9 million per hour, USD 11.4 million per minute, and USD 190,000 per second. The results of the damage caused on a global scale in 2023 have not been announced officially yet," Deputy Head of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan Allahveran Ismayilov said as he delivered a speech at a conference held on “Digital Criminal Procedure: Modern Challenges and Goals”, APA reports.

He noted that according to the report of the company Checkpoint, the educational and research institutions (Institutes) remained as the most targeted sector in 2023, additionally, the attacks to the healthcare sector have increased by 74% in comparison with the previous year.
