In recent days, media outlets belonging to the Armenian segment have been reporting that Russian citizen Zahiraddin Ibrahimov was captured and brought to Baku as a result of operational measures carried out by the State Security Service (SSS), APA reports.
Zahiraddin Ibrahimov, who is presented as the chairman of the committee for the protection of the rights of ethnic minorities in Azerbaijan, lived in the city of Yekaterinburg and for years made anti-Azerbaijani statements in fake events organized in the capital of Armenia.
From 2005 to 2020, he voiced false accusations and made biased declarations against the Republic of Azerbaijan at fabricated conferences held in Armenia and carried out the instructions of relevant Armenian structures with the aim of inciting separatism in Azerbaijan.
A while ago, lawyer Sayyara Aliyeva, who had given an interview to the media regarding the issue, confirmed that her client, Z. Ibrahimov, had indeed been placed in the SSS investigation detention facility. She stated that during interrogation, Z. Ibrahimov admitted his ties with Armenia and other matters.
The details of the special operation in which Russian citizen Zahiraddin Ibrahimov was captured and brought to Azerbaijan have not yet been disclosed to the public.
However, it is already known that, like Ruben Vardanyan and Arayik Harutyunyan, he is being held in the SSS investigation detention facility and will be held accountable for crimes directed against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
In the year 2025, which has been declared the "Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty," the capture and transfer to the country of Zahiraddin Ibrahimov—who for a long time had been a key instrument in the enemy state’s separatist propaganda—serves as a clear message to anyone who dares to act against the constitutional order and territorial sovereignty of our state.
APA has sent an inquiry to the Press Service of the SSS regarding the matter. We will continue to follow the topic closely.
